Apply the antirust products Tecty or Dinitrol to the following items: articulation joints and other joints: fenders, platforms, sheet metal, handholds, loader frames, hydraulic valves and hoses.
Remove accumulated corrosive materials from the inside of the compartments of the actuator group for the hood and the tool box .Note: Reminder: Because of varying conditions, only actual experience in a particular application can dictate the adequate amount of maintenance.Every Two Years

The 431-1345 Vapor Capsules should be replaced after 2 years from manufacture date. Refer to Illustration 2 for capsule locations.Instructions for Maintenance of Electrical Connectors
Inspect sealed connectors and the receptacles for damages or corrosion and apply dielectric grease 151-1340 Dielectric Grease inside the connectors and the receptacle.
Inspect connectors that are not sealed and repair using the following procedure.

Remove the 7X-2639 Heat Shrink Tube , 210-8958 Heat Shrink Tube , or 135-5009 Heat Shrink Tube from the connectors by cutting the tube lengthwise.

Replace damaged parts and apply 151-1340 Dielectric Grease to the connectors inside the receptacle.
Assemble a new 7X-2639 Heat Shrink Tube , 210-8958 Heat Shrink Tube , or 135-5009 Heat Shrink Tube to the assembled connections. Apply 4C-9612 Silicone Sealant to both sides of the tube. Warm the surface of the 7X-2639 Heat Shrink Tube , 210-8958 Heat Shrink Tube , or 135-5009 Heat Shrink Tube to the desired size for proper protection of the connections.The following items are available through the Caterpillar parts distribution system.

7X-2639 Heat Shrink Tube (50.8 mm (2 inch)), 210-8958 Heat Shrink Tube (24 mm (0.9 inch)), or 135-5009 Heat Shrink Tube (32 mm (1.3 inch))
