Tire Inflation with Air
Servicing and changing tires and rims can be dangerous. This work must be done only by trained personnel with correct tools and procedures. If correct procedures are not followed while servicing tires and rims, the assemblies can burst with explosive force and cause serious physical injury or death. Follow carefully the specification information provided by your tire servicing person or dealer.
A tire blowout or a rim failure can cause personal injury.Use a self-attaching inflation chuck and stand behind the tread when inflating a tire, to prevent personal injury.
Set the tire inflation equipment regulator at no more than 140 kPa (20 psi) over the recommended tire pressure.
Tire Shipping Pressure
The tire inflation pressures that are shown in Table 1 are cold inflation shipping pressures.
Table 1
Code Shipping Pressure
kPa psi
11.00-20 800 115
23.5 R 25 500 72.5 The operating inflation pressure is based on the following items:
Weight of a ready-to-work machine without attachments
Rated payload
Average operating conditions.Pressures for each application may vary. Pressures should always be obtained from your tire supplier.Tire Inflation Pressure Adjustment
The tire pressure in a warm shop area ( 18° to 21°C (65° to 70°F) average temperature) will significantly change when you move the machine into freezing temperatures. If you inflate the tire to the correct pressure in a warm shop, the tire will be underinflated in freezing temperatures. Low pressure shortens the life of a tire. When you operate the machine in freezing temperatures, see Special Publication, SEBU5898, "Cold Weather Recommendations".
