ALTERNATOR GP-CHARGING 1777433 - Caterpillar

The engine left side plate is shown. 1. Remove two bolts and install tooling (A). Fasten a hoist. Loosen bolts (3). Remove bolts (1) that hold plates (2) and (6) together.2. Remove bolts (5) and (4) that hold side plate (6) in place. Remove side plate (6). The weight is 260 lb. (117 kg). Steps 3 and 4 are for the left engine plate only.
There are two threaded plates that bolts (9) are installed into. The plates are free to fall when bolts (9) are removed.
3. Remove cover (10) from auxiliary starting receptacle (8). Remove four bolts (9) and remove the auxiliary starting receptacle from plate (2).4. Disconnect ground strap (7) from the plate.5. Remove plate (2).Install Engine Side Plates (Later)
Steps 2 and 3 are for the engine left plate only. 1. Put plate (4) in position and install the bolts that hold it.2. Connect ground strap (3).3. Put auxiliary starting receptacle in position from the back side of the plate. Install cover (1). Put retainers (5) in place on the back side of the plate and install the bolts that hold auxiliary starting receptacle (2) to the plate. 4. Install tooling (A) and fasten a hoist to side plate (6). Put side plate (6) in position on the machine.5. Install the bolts that hold the side plate to the frame. Install the bolts that hold the side plates together.6. Tighten the four bolts that hold the rear of the side plate in place which were loosened in the remove story.
