start by: a) remove idler gears Winch is shown removed from the machine. 1. Remove nut (1), the collar and the O-ring seal from the shaft. 2. Remove the bolts that hold flange (2) in position. Use two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws to remove the flange. Keep the shim(s) with the flange. Remove the O-ring seal from the flange. 3. Put tool (A) in position under drum assembly (3). 4. Remove nut (4), the collar and the O-ring seal from the shaft. 5. Remove bolts (5) and ring (6) from the gear.6. Install two 1/2"-13 NC bolts, 2 in. long again into the gear and support to hold the gear in position when the shaft is removed. 7. Install tooling (B) as shown. Use tooling (B) to pull the shaft until a hoist can be installed on the shaft. Remove tooling (B). 8. Remove bearings (8), cups (7) and spacer (9) from the shaft. 9. Use the hoist to remove shaft (10). Weight is 89 lb. (40 kg). Remove O-ring seal (11) and spacer (12) from the shaft. 10. Remove two bolts (13) that were installed in Step 6. 11. Install 1/2"-13 NC guide pin (14) in gear (15) and the support.12. Install a hoist on gear (15). Use two 1/2"-13 NC forcing screws to remove the gear from the support.13. Remove the forcing screws from the gear. Use the guide pin as a pivot for the gear. Remove the guide pin from the support and the gear from the case. Weight is 88 lb. (40 kg). 14. Install a hoist on drum (3).15. Remove bolts from drum (3). 16. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts (17) in support (16). Use a bar to remove the support from the drum. Remove the forged eyebolts from the support. 17. Use a hoist to remove drum assembly (3). Weight is 164 lb. (74 kg).18. Install tool (C), 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolt and a 1/2"-13 NC nut on support (16). Use a hoist to remove the support. Weight is 42 lb. (19 kg). 19. Remove seal (18) if worn or damaged from the case. 20. Remove O-ring seal (19) if worn or damaged from the drum. 21. Remove the bolts that hold retainer (20) on the drum. Use two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws to remove the retainer from the drum.22. Remove seal (21) if worn or damaged from the retainer. 23. Use tooling (D) to remove bearings (22) and the cups from drum (3).Install Drum
1. Clean and inspect all parts. Make a replacement of the parts if worn or damaged. 2. Lower the temperature of bearing cups (1) and (2). Install bearing cup (1) and bearing cone (5) in drum (8) as shown. Install bearing cone (6) and bearing cup (2) in the drum as shown.3. Use tooling (A) and a press to install seal (4) in retainer (3) as shown.4. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material on the contact surfaces of drum (8) and retainer (3). Install the retainer on the
