7. Remove the bolts and bearing retaining ring (4) from the drum drive gear.8. Install two bolts again into the support flange to hold the drive gear in position when the drum shaft and bearings are removed. The bolts must be shorter than the original bolts by the same amount as the thickness of retaining ring (4) that was just removed.9. Remove the wood block between the drive gear and the case. Turn the drum until the two forcing screw holes in the drive gear are in a vertical position. 10. Put a wood block and floor jack (5) in position under the right side of the drum as shown.11. Install tooling (B) on the end of the drum shaft as shown. Fasten a hoist to the shaft. Pull on the shaft until bearings (6) are out of the drum drive gear. Remove tooling (B).12. Pull the shaft out of the drum far enough to slide the hoist toward the center of the shaft. Remove the shaft. Weight of the shaft is 150 lb. (68 kg).13. Remove the bearings and the O-ring seal from the shaft. 14. Remove the two bolts that hold the drum drive gear and install two guide pins (7) and two forcing screws of the correct size.15. Tighten the forcing screws evenly to push drive gear (8) off the spline and on to guide pins (7). Remove the forcing screws.16. Fasten tooling (C) to a hoist and to the top forcing screw hole in the drive gear. Remove the guide pins and lower hoist to put gear on the case.17. Put a block of wood in case to hold the drive gear in this position. Remove tooling (C). 18. Fasten a strap to the drive gear and to the hoist. Lift the gear until the block can be removed. Remove drive gear (9) from case. Weight is 210 lb. (95 kg) on the 58 and 59 Winches and 126 lb. (57 kg) on the 57 Winch.19. Fasten a hoist to the drum. Remove the three bolts that were left in the drum. Remove the floor jack and block from the drum. 20. Install two eyebolts of the correct size in drum support flange (10). Put pry bar (11) in position through the eyebolts as shown and pull support flange (10) from the drum.21. Fasten a wire from one of the eyebolts to the boss on the outside of the case to keep flange in position when the drum is removed.22. Remove the drum from the case. Weight is 375 lb. (169 kg) on the 58 and 59 Winches and 261 lb. (118 kg) on the 57 Winch. 23. Remove the six bolts that hold bearing retainer (12) to the drum. Install two forcing screws of the correct size and remove the retainer. Remove seal (13) from the bearing retainer.24. Remove two bearings (14) from the drum. Remove the O-ring seal from the other side of the drum. 25. Install a 5/8"-11 NC forged eyebolt
