Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the aftercooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Disconnect harness assembly (2) .
Remove engine oil temperature sensor (1) from the cylinder block. Remove the O-ring seal from the engine oil temperature sensor.
Disconnect harness assembly (3) .
Remove the engine oil temperature sensor (4) from the cylinder block. Remove the O-ring seal from the engine oil temperature sensor.Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Install the O-ring seal on engine oil temperature sensor (1). Install engine oil temperature sensor (1) and tighten to a torque of 48 5 N m (35 4 lb ft).
Connect harness assembly (2) .
Install the O-ring seal on engine oil temperature sensor (4). Install engine oil temperature sensor (4) and tighten to a torque of 48 5 N m (35 4 lb ft).
Connect harness assembly (3) .End By: Install the aftercooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Install".
