Introduction
The problem that is identified below does have a known permanent solution.Problem
From November 2006 to April 2007 a limited number of 9W-5828 Track Shoes were manufactured with the mounting holes being improperly drilled. The mounting holes were drilled in improper locations. These holes are only slightly out of the correct position. Therefore, the mounting bolts will not align with the holes in the track links.Solution
The dimensional difference between the suspect shoes and the correct shoes is to small and to difficult to measure. The best method for testing the shoe is to perform a fitup test with the link assembly. The proper track bolts should fit without forcing.Only one service claim should be submitted for all of the faulty parts that are in a dealer's parts stock. All of the faulty parts need to be scraped. These parts are not able to be salvaged.
