Information:
Remove Fuel Transfer Pump
1. Remove the bolts (1) that hold fuel transfer pump (2) to engine.2. Remove fuel transfer pump.3. Remove the service meter from fuel transfer pump.Install Fuel Transfer Pump
1. Inspect the O-ring seals on the fuel transfer pump and service meter and install new seals, if necessary. Put clean SAE 30 engine oil on the seals.2. Install the service meter on the fuel transfer pump.3. Put grease on the gear of the fuel transfer pump.4. Put the fuel transfer pump in position on engine and install the bolts that hold it to engine.Disassemble Fuel Transfer Pump
start by: a) remove fuel transfer pump 1. Remove nut (3), gear (2), key (4) and cage (1) from shaft.2. Remove O-ring seals (5) from cage. 3. Remove bearing and lip-type seals from cage with tooling (A). 4. Remove cover (9) from body (6).5. Remove gear (8) and shaft assembly (7) from body.
Be careful not to cause damage to surfaces of cover and pump body that fit together.
6. Remove seal from cover (9). 7. Remove the bearing from pump body with tool (B). 8. Remove plug (12), spring (11), and plunger (10) from pump body.Assemble Fuel Transfer Pump
1. Clean all parts before assembling pump. 2. Install the bearing in pump body with tool (A). 3. Install gear (1) and shaft assembly (2) in the body.4. Put a small amount of 8S6747 Aviation Type Permatex on the surface of the body.
Do not let Permatex enter the pump.
5. Install the lip-type seal in the cover with tooling (B). Install seal with lip to the outside.6. Install the cover on pump body. After tightening bolts for the cover, the shaft must turn freely. 7. Install the seals in the cage with tool (B). Seal (4) must be installed to dimension (X), .580 in. (14.732 mm), and lip of seal must be toward the bearing end of the cage. Seal (3) must be installed to dimension (Y), .120 in. (3.048 mm), and lip of seal must be toward pump gears. 8. Install the bearing in cage with tooling (C). 9. Install O-ring seals (6) on the cage. Put clean SAE 30 engine oil on seals.10. Install tool (D) on to shaft and install cage (5). Remove tool (D).
Tool (D) must be used to install cage. The shaft will cause damage to seals if tool (D) is not used.
11. Install key (9) in shaft. Install gear (7) and nut (8) on the shaft. Tighten nut to a torque of 22 5 lb.ft. (3.0 0.7 mkg).end by: a) install fuel transfer pump
