Information:
Halon 1301 Or 2402 Agent Cylinders
Discharged Agent Cylinders
This type of discharged agent cylinders requires a thorough visual inspection and, if more than FIVE years have elapsed since the last hydrostatic test, a hydrostatic test is also required before recharging.
Charged Agent Cylinders That Are Still In Service
This type of charged agent cylinders (still in use) that have NOT been discharged, may be left in service for 20 years from the date of the last inspection and test. After 20 years in service, the agent cylinders must be depressurized, emptied, visually inspected, and hydrostatically tested before being returned to service.
Nitrogen Actuation Cylinders
The nitrogen actuator cylinders, which activate the fire suppression system, require the same inspections and tests as the HALON cylinders.
Dry Chemical Agent Cylinders
Discharged Agent Cylinders
Discharged DRY CHEMICAL agent cylinders require a thorough visual inspection and, if more than 12 years have elapsed since the last hydrostatic test, a hydrostatic test is also required before recharging.
Charged Agent Cylinders That Are Still In Service
DRY CHEMICAL agent cylinders can be left in service for only SIX consecutive years without being discharged and inspected for powder caking and/or cylinder corrosion. At the end of SIX consecutive years WITHOUT being discharged, the DRY CHEMICAL agent cylinder must be depressurized, emptied, visually inspected, and hydrostatically tested if more than 12 years since the last test.
