PROBLEM
The replacement of the elbow is considered before failure unless coolant is leaking from the inlet elbow. The existing inlet water elbow can rub against the truck chassis on certain C13 On-Highway truck engines. The interference can create a hole causing the cooling system to loose coolant.

ACTION REQUIRED
Remove the old water inlet elbow and install the new water inlet elbow. The water pump needs to be removed in order to replace the elbow. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual RENR9705.
