Introduction
This Special Instruction provides a procedure to loosen a seized lock assembly of the tool box for all D2 Series, E Series, and F Series excavators.Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.Required Parts

Perform Steps 1 through 7 below to resolve the issue. If you are unable to proceed past Step 3, replace the lock assembly.

(1) Clearance between the case and the guide ring
(2) Clearance between the key cylinder and the case
(3) Keyhole

(4) Water drain hole (if applicable)
Using a corrosion-resisting lubricant spray (such as Henkel ML-11), thoroughly lubricate clearance points (1) and (2), keyhole (3), and water drain hole (4) (if applicable) shown in Illustrations 1 and 2. Allow the lubricant to soak in for several minutes.Note: Not all lock assemblies will have a water drain hole (4).
Push the case and key cylinder all the way in and release several times to wash away any rust and/or dirt.
Fully insert the key into the keyhole of the key cylinder. If you cannot fully insert the key into the keyhole, repeat Steps 1 and 2, and try again.
Turn the key firmly several times. If you cannot turn the key, repeat Steps 1 and 2, and try again.
Push the case and key cylinder all the way in and release several times. If the case and key cylinder are not working correctly and smoothly, repeat Steps 1 and 2, and try again.
Confirm that the tool box cover opens when the case and key cylinder are pushed in. If the tool box cover does not open, lift the cover and push in on the case and key cylinder at the same time.
Close the tool box cover, and confirm that the lock assembly latched the cover.
