ALTERNATOR GP-CHARGING 2626930 - Caterpillar

1. Remove the two mounting bolts (1) that hold spray bar valve support bracket to the platform. 2. Loosen the signal wire seal cap (2), and unscrew the weatherproof pickup housing (3) from the conduit adapter on the body of turbine flow meter (4).3. Unscrew the swivel nut and unplug the signal wire connector from the magnetic pickup.4. Remove the magnetic pickup from inside the conduit adapter on the meter body to avoid damaging the pickup while handling the meter.5. Loosen the flange bolt nuts (5) enough to allow the pipe flanges (6) to move apart for flow meter clearance.6. Completely remove one of the flange bolts (7) and its body centering ring (8). Be sure to note the direction-of-flow arrow on the side of the meter.7. Remove the flow meter (4) from between the pipe flanges through the space created by the removed bolt.8. Remove the flange gaskets (9). The following steps are for installation of the turbine flow meter.9. Clean all upstream lines and the gasket surfaces before reinstallation of the meter.10. Install the flange gaskets (9) and make sure the gaskets are properly aligned to help prevent damage to the gasket surfaces. Make sure the direction-of-flow arrow on the side of the meter and the conduit adapter is pointed in the proper direction as was noted at removal.11. Position the flow meter (4) between the flanges (6), using the body centering rings (8) to align the meter body properly with the inside diameter of the flanges.12. Install the removed bolt (7) and centering ring, then hand tighten the nuts until sure meter is centered and seated properly to the flange gaskets before torque is applied.13. Tighten the flange bolt nuts (5) alternately and in even increments.14. Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of the magnetic pickup.15. Install the magnetic pickup into the flow meter by screwing it in hand tight, and then backing it out 1/4 turn. Tighten the locknut to maintain this position.16. Plug the signal wire connector back into the magnetic pickup and tighten the swivel nut by hand until the connector is fully inserted into the magnetic pickup.17. Thread weatherproof pickup housing (3) onto the conduit adapter on turbine flow meter (4) until hand tight, then tighten two full turns more.18. Tighten the signal wire seal cap (2) and pump grease into grease fitting (10) until grease comes out of relief hole located opposite of grease fitting. All four bolts (11) may have to be temporarily loosened to align bracket holes to the platform holes.19. Install the spray bar valve support bracket mounting bolts (1) back to the platform.
The flow meter must be filled with fluid before the pump is activated. Do not allow the fluid to slug meter or damage could occur to the rotor or to the bearings.
20. With the spray bar control valve closed and the inlet line to the pump raised above the outlet line, fill with water (thru inlet line) until level in outlet
