START BY:a) remove flywheel housing 1. Turn the engine until the "V" marks on camshaft gear (2) and balancer gear (3) are in alignment as shown.2. Loosen bolts (1) that hold gear (2) on the camshaft approximately 2.18 mm (.125 in.). 3. Use tool (A) to loosen camshaft gear (2) from the camshaft. Remove the bolts and camshaft gear (2). 4. Remove bolt (5), plate (4) and balancer gear (3) from the shaft. 5. Remove bolts (7) and shaft (6) from the cylinder block. 6. Remove bearing (8) from the balancer gear.Install Camshaft Rear Gear And Balancer
1. Use tool group (A) and install bearing (1) in balancer gear (2) until it is 1.3 mm (.05 in.) below the outside surface on the weight side (back side) of the gear. After assembly, the inside diameter of the bearing must be 50.902 0.048 mm (2.0040 .0019 in.). The joint in the bearing must be on a centerline 20° with the balance weight. 2. Install shaft (3) and bolts (4) on the cylinder block. The outside diameter of the shaft (new) must be 50.800 0.013 mm (2.0000 .0005 in.). 3. Install balancer gear (2), plate (5) and the bolt on the shaft as shown. 4. Put camshaft gear (6) in position on the camshaft. Make sure the dowel in the camshaft is in alignment with the hole in the camshaft gear and the "V" marks on the gears are in alignment. 5. Install bolts (7) that hold the camshaft gear to the camshaft. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 27 4 N m (20 3 lb.ft.).6. Use tool (B) to check the end play of the balancer gear.
