Vibratory Pump (8) Outlet Port (9) Inlet PortWhen the engine is running, drive shaft (3) turns. Oil is drawn into the pump through inlet port (9) by drive gear (6) and by driven gear (4). Oil circulates around the gears and leaves through outlet port (8). Oil from the outlet port feeds surface zone (7). The high pressure oil pushes the wear plates against the gears in order to eliminate axial play. Passage (5) routes inlet oil to the steering section of the tandem pump.
