At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns.To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Disconnect the hose assembly of the host machine from coupling (1).
Install Tooling (A) in either direction between the hose assembly of the host machine and coupling (1) .
Start the host machine. Run the host machine at high idle and operate the implements until the hydraulic oil reaches normal operating temperature.
Rotate the work tool. Ensure that the direction of the rotation corresponds with the direction of flow of Tooling (A). Record the reading on the flow meter. The flow meter reading should be 35 5 L/min (9.2 1.3 US gpm).
Remove Tooling (A) from the work tool.
Reconnect the hose at coupling (1) .
Ensure that the O-ring seals are properly positioned and connect the two hoses to the coupling.
Disconnect the hose assembly of the host machine from coupling (2) .
Install Tooling (A) in either direction between the hose assembly of the host machine and coupling (2) .
Start the host machine.
Rotate the work tool. Ensure that the direction of the rotation corresponds with the direction of flow of Tooling (A). Record the reading on the flow meter. The flow meter reading should be 35 5 L/min (9.2 1.3 US gpm).
Remove Tooling (A) from the work tool.
Reconnect the hose at coupling (2) .
Ensure that the O-ring seals are properly positioned and connect the two hoses to the couplings.
Refer to the list below for the corresponding results to the test:
If the flow was within the specification and the cycle times were not within the specification in either direction, the seals in the motor may be faulty. Check the gerotor motor for internal leakage. Refer to Service Manual, "Gerotor Motor Leakage - Test".
