(1) Torque converter sump
(2) Oil level sensor The lower section of the torque converter housing is the torque converter sump. Torque converter sump (1) is located behind the engine and in front of the transmission. Torque converter sump (1) is used as the oil reservoir for the transmission hydraulic system. The oil is also used for the torque converter, transmission, and engine flywheel lubrication. An air breather is located on top of the torque converter housing.Oil level sensor (2) is located on the rear of the torque converter housing. The oil level sensor will notify the operator if the oil level in the sump drops below the sensor.
