Remove the front wheel bearings and Duo-Cone seals.
Remove the front suspension.
When you are using hydraulic cylinders and puller studs, always ensure that the rated capacity of the puller stud meets or exceeds the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. If the puller stud does not meet or exceed the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, a sudden failure of the puller stud could occur. The sudden failure of the puller stud could result in personal injury or death.

Use Tooling (A) and suitable blocking to support front suspension cylinder (1). The weight of front suspension cylinder (1) and spindle (2) is approximately 422 kg (930 lb).
Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device onto spindle (2). The weight of spindle (2) is approximately 136 kg (300 lb).
Remove bracket assemblies (3).

Remove bolts (4), retainer plate (5), and shims (6).

Use Tooling (C) to separate spindle (2) from suspension cylinder (1).

Apply Tooling (D) onto the taper of suspension cylinder (1). Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to install spindle (2) onto suspension cylinder (1). The weight of spindle (2) is approximately 136 kg (300 lb).

Measure the thickness of retainer plate (5). Record the result as Dimension (X).
Install retainer plate (5).
Install two of bolts (4), equally spaced. Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft).
Use Tooling (E) to measure the distance between the bottom of the strut rod and the outside face of retainer plate (5). Record the result as Dimension (Y).
Subtract Dimension (Y) from Dimension (X) and record the result as Dimension (Z).
Subtract 2.0 0.03 mm (0.079 0.0012 inch) from Dimension (Z). Record the difference between the two measurements as Dimension (ZZ).
Remove bolts (4). Remove retainer plate (5).
Install a number of shims (6) that are equal to Dimension (ZZ). Install retainer plate (5). Install bolts (4).Note: The thickness of shims (6) must not be less than 0.635 mm (0.025 inch).
Tighten bolts (4) one at a time. Do not exceed tightening bolts (4) more than one half turn at a time. Tighten bolts (4) in a circular pattern. Continue this procedure until bolts (4) are tightened to a torque of 680 35 N m (502 26 lb ft).
