View of the left side of the torque converter and transmission
(1) Magnetic screen for the torque converter The magnetic screen is fastened to the left side of the torque converter case. As the oil is pulled up from the torque converter sump by the gear pump, the oil goes through magnetic screen (1). The oil flows through the openings that are between magnets. The magnets are installed on so that the same magnetic ends are next to each other.As the oil flows over the magnets, metal particles are stopped by the magnets. The oil then flows through the screen where other foreign particles are stopped. The particles are not allowed to go into the power train system.
