start by: a) remove cylinder headsb) remove connecting rod bearings
Be sure to remove timing pins before turning engine.
1. Remove carbon deposit from the top of the cylinder liner bore with tool group (A).2. Push piston and connecting rod up out of the cylinder liner.3. Remove the piston rings from the piston using tool (B).4. Remove spring for oil ring.5. Remove the retainers (1) for the connecting rod pin.6. Remove the connecting rod pin (4) to make separation of the connecting rod (2) and the piston (3).Install Pistons
1. Put piston (2) in position on connecting rod (1). "V" mark on piston must be toward short side of connecting rod.2. Install the pin (3) and retainers (4) in the piston.3. Install the spring for the oil ring.4. Install the piston rings on the piston with tool (A). For correct installation of piston rings, see instructions that come with each new set of piston rings.5. Put clean SAE 30 engine oil on the piston rings, piston, and cylinder liner bore.6. Put tool (B) on top of the cylinder liner and push the piston through tool (B) into cylinder liner. "V" mark on piston must be in alignment with "V" mark on spacer plate.
Do not cause damage to the bearing surface on the crankshaft when installing pistons.
