Implement Electronic Control Module
Depend on the machine model the GRADE system may utilize one B5M5 460-0132 Electronic Control Gp or Both of B5M4 386-3444 Electronic Control Module and ECM B5M1 309-5710 Electronic Control Module ECM. The ECM hardware and the software loaded on the ECM are the same on the Cat Excavator machines equipped with GRADE system and standard machines not equipped with GRADE system. The GRADE system is enabled in the Implement ECM by a configurable option. This configurable option is secured through the feature protection system with a Software Enabled Attachment (SEA) factory password. The Grade Control System installation status will show "Installed" and Grade Control System enable status will show "Enabled" when the machine has the integrated GRADE system and the machine is looking for the GRADE system devices. The GRADE system installation status is the configurable parameter that is secured with the SEA factory password. The feature protection system lists the integrated GRADE system on Excavators as "Reason Code 22: 3-D GRADE System Installation". GRADE systems coming from the factory should arrive with the installation status already set to "Installed".The Grade Control System installation status will retain the parameter state through an Implement ECM software update. There is not a need to updated parameter state in most normal system service calls. If the Implement ECM hardware where to fail, the Grade Control System installation status must be reconfigured to the "Installed" state. The GRADE machine measurements, linkage, bucket, and laser catcher dimensions, CGC system sensor (boom, stick, body tilt and rotation) sensors calibration, and machine body offsets lateral and reach-in are all maintained through an Implement ECM software update.Note: Save an ECM replacement file for the Implement ECM if there is ECM hardware replacement.3D GRADE Display - TD520
The software support licenses on the R2 EC520 ECM for the 3D GRADE system will be maintained through a software update. The 3D GRADE system display TD520 does not contain any of the system software or the software support licenses that determines the support life of the 3D system on the R2 EC520 ECM. The system software or the software support licenses can be downloaded to the R2 ECM through the 3D GRADE Display (TD520).The software support licensescontains a support date. The system can be updated with any software released prior to the support date of the support licenses.Note: If software with a release date later than the support date loaded on the 3D system ECM, the 3D system will not function until downgraded or the software support is renewed with Cat via a new software license. All Excavators with installed 2D/3D GRADE systems shipped from factory with preloaded 2-year software support period. This software support period is initiated when the dealer/customer accepts the End User License Agreement (EULA) on the 3D GRADE Display - TD520 and the 3D System R2 EC520 ECM.Note: The End User License Agreement (EULA) may be temporarily bypassed by pressing the cancel/return button when on the "EULA acceptance" screen. Bypassing the EULA will give
