Move the machine to a safe area and secure the machine.
Turn the "Master Key Switch" to the "Off" position on the tractor and the scraper.
On the 627G, locate the new 9G-0028 Boss As on the left side rail of the push frame. Center the boss in the rail and 276 mm (11 inch) between the center of the ground boss and the front edge of the fender support block.
On the 637G, locate the new 9G-0028 Boss As on the left side rail of the push frame. Center the boss in the rail and 425 mm (17 inch) between the center of the ground boss and the front edge of the fender support block.
Weld the new ground 9G-0028 Boss As into the specified location with a 3 mm (0.1 inch) fillet weld. For the specifications of the welding process, refer to WELDING - ARC, 1E0099R. Clean the welded area and then paint the welded area. Do not paint the contact area on top of the ground boss.
Remove the existing alternator from the scraper engine. Remove the pulley from the alternator.

Install the removed pulley onto the new 169-3345 Charging Alternator Gp (3) .
Install the 5P-8247 Hard Washer onto the shaft of the new alternator. Thread the 2K-4821 Locknut onto the shaft of the alternator. Tighten the locknut to 127 10 N m (94 7 lb ft).
Connect the terminal with the small diameter on the 335-2427 Wire As (1) to the negative ground terminal on the side of alternator. Tighten to 4.4 1 N m (38.9 9 lb in).
Install the new alternator onto the scraper engine.
Install the 132-5789 Clip (5) to the top bolt of the alternator. Refer to Illustration 1.
Attach the positive terminal of the harness onto the positive terminal (2) of the new 169-3345 Charging Alternator Gp. Tighten the nut on the positive terminal of the alternator to 18.2 2.4 N m (13.4 1.8 lb ft).
Connect the terminal with the large diameter on the 335-2427 Wire As (1) to the new ground 9G-0028 Boss As with one 5M-3062 Bolt and one 8T-4896 Hard Washer .
Secure the 335-2427 Wire As (1) to the 132-5789 Clip (5) and the radiator support (6) with the 7K-1181 Cable Strap (4) .
Replace the 40 Amp 171-2205 Circuit Breaker As in the breaker box that is located on the right
