ECM uses the highest value of the exhaust temperature sensors for the turbocharger to provide a signal to the monitoring panel for the machine. This signal is an indication of the temperatures. The monitoring panel warns the operator of an unacceptable range in temperature. An event will also be logged in the ECM. The event can be viewed with the ET service tool. A factory password is required in order to clear this event with the electronic service tool.The ECM will also derate the engine by two percent if the exhaust temperature is above the acceptable level for 60 seconds. The temperature must be in the acceptable level after an additional 15 seconds or the engine will be derated another two percent. Fuel limiting will continue in steps of two percent. Each step will last for 15 seconds. The steps will continue until the exhaust temperatures go below the acceptable level or the maximum derating of 20 percent is reached. The last level of derating will remain active until the ECM is powered down.
