This diagnostic code becomes active when all of the parameters for the CAN data link are missing for more than 250 milliseconds. This diagnostic code is associated with the wire harnesses that connect to the components for the remote control system and the other ECMs on the machine. Failure of the internal CAN data link wiring of a component connected to the CAN data link may also cause this diagnostic code. This failure causes the data link communications to be disrupted.System Response:The remote control system will safely stop the machine and apply parking brake and implement lockout. The system will allow the operator reactivate remote control operations when all of the parameters on the CAN data link are available.Test Step 1. CYCLE THE POWER TO THE SYSTEM
Turn the Manual/Remote Mode Switch in the Manual position.
Turn the Manual/Remote Mode Switch in the Remote position.
Check the status of the diagnostic code MID 126 - CID 0247 - FMI 09 in Cat ET. Expected Result:The diagnostic code is not active.Results:
YES - The diagnostic code is not active.Repair: The diagnostic code was caused by the internal CAN data link circuit on one or more of the system components. Cycling the power to the system has reset the network. Return the machine to normal operation.STOP
NO - The diagnostic code is still active. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK POWER TO THE COMPONENTS
Connect Cat ET to the machine service connector via the Communication Adapter.
Place the Manual/Remote Mode Switch in the Remote position.
Use the Operator Console to turn on machine power.
Use Cat ET to verify that all ECM are on and communicating. Expected Result:All ECMs are on and communicating.Results:
YES - All ECMs are on and communicating. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NO - One or more of the ECM are not communicating.Repair: Check the power circuits for each of the ECMs not responding. Repair the harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE RESISTANCE OF THE CAN DATA LINK
Turn the Manual/Remote Mode Switch to the Manual position.
Disconnect the 70 pin connector from the Remote Control ECM.
Take the following measurement at the 70-pin connector of Remote Control ECM. Measure the resistance between contact 58 (wire F711-GY(Grey)) and contact 48 (wireF711-GN(Green)). Note the resistances. Expected Result:The resistance measurement is 60 6 ohms.Results:
YES - The resistance measurement is 60 6 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 5.
NO - The resistance measurement is NOT 60 6 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 4.Test Step 4. CHECK THE TERMINATION RESISTOR
Locate the Termination resistors for the machine.
Disconnect the 3-pin connector for both of the termination resistors.
Measure the resistance across contact A and contact B for one resistor. Measure the resistance across contact A and contact B for the other resistor. Note the resistance. Expected Result:The resistance measurements are 120 12 ohms for each resistor.Results:
YES - The resistance measurements are 120 12 ohms. Reconnect the resistors. Proceed to Test Step 5.
NO - One or both of the resistance measurements are NOT 120 12 ohms.Repair: Replace the termination resistors that did
