This program should be administeredin a manner that utilizes Future Dated Orders of replacement booms, (alongwith a preventive maintenance schedule whenever practical) to minimizedelays due to the inherent logistics involved in the delivery and replacementof large structures.ACTION REQUIRED
Perform a visual inspection of the boom cylinderbrackets for cracks.
Repair any cracks found during the visual inspection.
Based on severity of cracking, a replacement boomcan be ordered utilizing the Future Dated Order process wherever practical.Proper management of any cracking will allow new booms to be ordered ina manner that will allow booms to be replaced during normal preventivemaintenance schedules. This will help to minimize downtime.
Remove and install the boom following the proceduresoutlined in the 5130B Excavator Disassembly and Assembly Manual SENR1472.

Destroy old boom by cutting into at least sixsections. Include the following:
Cut lengthwise completely around the boom ensuringthat the cuts go through the foot and tip castings.
Cut circumference around both the boom and bucketcylinder castings.
Send boom destruction data sheet, photograph ofpieces and the part/sequence number plate from the side of the boom to:
