ALTERNATOR G 5N4827 - Caterpillar

1. Disconnect link (1) for the circle centershift from the rack. Put identification on the shims for assembly. 2. Start the engine. Move rack (2) until it moves away from pinion (3). The rack can be moved to either side.3. Fasten a hoist and remove the rack from the rail. The weight is 150 lb. (68 kg). 4. Remove ball (4). Remove bolts and nuts (5) and make a separation of the rack. Put identification on shims (6) between the rail for correct assembly.Install Circle Centershift Rack
1. Put the rack together. Install shims (3) as needed to get a slide fit between the rail and the rack.2. Install bolts and nuts (2) that hold the rail together. Put the four longer bolts on each side of the opening for the ball.3. Install ball (1). 4. Fasten a hoist (not shown) and install rack (4) on the rail.5. Lower the rack into position. Start the engine and move the rack down. 6. Lift up on link (5) and move the rack until the ball is against the socket. For correct amount of shims, see BALL AND SOCKET ADJUSTMENT.7. Install shims (6) and cap (7) to link (5).
