Components of the Transmission Oil Cooler (1) Bonnet. (2) Transmission oil cooler. (3) Oil inlet. (4) Oil outlet. (5) Bonnet. (6) Engine oil cooler. (7) Bonnet. Engine coolant from the water pump flows through bonnet (7) to engine oil cooler (6) . The coolant flows through long tubes inside engine oil cooler (6) to bonnet (5) . The coolant then flows through transmission oil cooler (2) to bonnet (1) .Transmission oil from the torque converter outlet relief valve flows to the oil cooler. This oil flows through oil cooler inlet (3) to the inside of the cooler. Heat is removed from the oil and the heat is transferred to the coolant in the tubes. The engine coolant is then cooled by the cooling system of the engine.After the oil flows around the tubes, the oil flows to the other end of the oil cooler. The oil then flows out of the oil cooler through oil cooler outlet (4) . This oil has a lower temperature than the inlet oil. The oil now flows through a line in order to lubricate the planetary group.
