PROBLEM
An incorrect elbow was installed on certain 587R Pipelayers. The monitoring system on these pipelayers will not recognize the operating engine because the incorrect elbow does not create sufficient fuel pressure. As a result, Level 3 alarms do not activate.

Refer to the attached procedure to replace the incorrect 148-8374 Elbow in the fuel system with a new 7W-9156 Elbow, 3J-1907 Seal, and 6V-8397 Seal.

PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
1. Refer to the Service Manual as necessary. Park the machine on a level surface. Put the parking brake on and place the boom down.
2. Disconnect Hose As. (1). Drain fuel into a suitable container
3. Remove Elbow (2).
4. Install new 7W-9156 Elbow, 3J-1907 Seal, and 6V-8397 Seal.
5. Connect Hose As. (1). Refuel as necessary.
