ALTERNATOR GROUP 9L5068 - Caterpillar

1. Remove bolts (1) and remove both fan guard assemblies (2). 2. Remove bolts (4) and lower fan assembly (3). Fan assembly (3) cannot be removed at this time. 3. Remove V-belts (5) from the pulley.4. Remove bolts (7) and remove fan drive assembly (6).5. Remove fan assembly (3). Install the fan and fan drive in the reverse order.End By:a. install alternatorDisassemble & Assemble Fan Drive
Start By:a. remove fan and fan drive 1. Remove bolts (3) and remove fan adapter (2).2. Remove bolts (4) and remove pulley (1). 3. Remove cap (5) from hub assembly (6).4. Remove bolt (7) and plate (8) and remove hub assembly (6). 5. Remove bearing cone (10), bearing cup (9) and spacer (11) from hub assembly (6).6. Remove lip seal (13), bearing cone (12) and bearing cup (14) from hub assembly (6). 7. Remove spacer (15) from bracket assembly (16). The following steps are for the assembly of the fan drive. 8. Install spacer (15) on bracket assembly (16). Apply a thin coat of 2S-3230 Lubricant on the outside diameter of spacer (15). 9. Install bearing cup (14).10. Pack bearing cone (12) with 2S-3230 Lubricant and install bearing cone (12).11. Using Tool (A), install lip seal (13).12. Fill the cavity between bearing cone (12) and lip seal (13) with 2S-3230 Lubricant.13. Apply a coating of 2S-3230 Lubricant on spacer (11) and install.14. Install bearing cup (9).15. Pack bearing cone (10) with 2S-3230 Lubricant and install bearing cone (10). 16. Install hub assembly (6), plate (8) and bolt (7).17. Fill cavity with 2S-3230 Lubricant and install cap (5). 18. Install pulley (1) and bolts (4).19. Install fan adapter (2) and bolts (3).End By:a. install fan and fan drive
