"Adjustments to the Hydraulic Ladder System"The Ladder Does Not Move
The engine for the machine is not running.
Start the engine of machine and attempt to raise the ladder.
The momentary switch is not making proper contact.
Check the momentary switch connections for loose or damaged wires.
Check the relay bank connections for loose or damaged wires.
Check the distance between the proximity switch and the magnet on the ladder. The magnet and the proximity switch of the ladder require a gap between the two components. The gap must be wide enough to prevent contact when the ladder moves. The gap must be close enough to allow both the magnet and the switch to function properly.
The hydraulic pressure for the machine is not sufficient.
Safely shut off the machine and exit the cab. From the ground level, perform a visual inspection of the hydraulic hoses connected to the ladder. If a leak is observed, a qualified mechanic should inspect the system further.
If no leakage is observed, the hydraulic reservoir of the machine may be low. A qualified mechanic should check the fluid in the reservoir and fill the reservoir as needed. The Ladder Moves but The Latch Does Not Operate
The proximity switch is not properly aligned.
Check the alignment of the proximity switch on the machine and the magnet on the ladder. Inspect both the proximity switch and the magnet on the ladder in order to ensure that each component is securely attached.
Check the wiring harness for the proximity switch for damage that could indicate a broken wire within the harness.
Check the relay bank connections for loose or damaged wires. The Latch Moves But The Ladder Does Not Move
The latch is moving but the ladder is not moving.
The connections to the hydraulic solenoid that controls the upward or the downward movement of the ladder have been switched. Check the pin connections for the solenoids and repair the harness or replace the harness.
Check the relay bank connections for loose or damaged wires. The Machine Fails The Test Of The Warning System For The Ladder In The Down Position
A test should be performed periodically in order to confirm that the "ladder down" warning system is functioning properly.
With the ladder in the down position, engage the brake of the machine and release the parking brake switch. With the brake firmly applied, move the gear shift out of the Park position. When the warning system is functioning properly, an audible and a visual alarm will activate. If the alarms do not activate check the ladder installation status on the Power Train ECM using Cat ET. Return the gear shift to the Park position. Adjustments to the Hydraulic Ladder System
The hydraulic ladder system requires periodic maintenance and adjustment.
