Remove the plug from the inlet elbow of the water pump. Install the 5P-2211 Adapter (8) with the 6V-5063 O-Ring Seal (9) and the 249-6673 Elbow (10) with the 6V-3251 O-Ring Seal (11) .

(2) Shunt line
The length of hose that is needed will vary in different applications. Make sure that the hose length is correct for the application before the hose is cut.
The shunt line (2) should be cut to a length of 160 cm (5 ft) for the first configuration.
The shunt line (2) should be cut to a length of 183 cm (6 ft) for the second configuration.

(2) Shunt line (3) Hose clamp (12) Surge tank
Attach the end of hose (2) to the surge tank (12) and tighten the hose clamp to the proper torque. Illustration 21 shows the routing of the hose from the tank on the truck chassis to the fitting on the inlet elbow of the water pump.

Illustration 20 shows the routing of the shunt line (2) if the radiator strut that is engine mounted is used.

Install the hose clips (1) that attach to the brackets on the valve cover. Tighten the bolts to the proper torque. Refer to Illustration 22 and Illustration 23.

Route the shunt line (2) in front of the air inlet elbows of the turbochargers (13). Refer to Illustration 24.

Install the fittings for the heater hose. If the heater hose that is being replaced is 3/4 inch use the 5P-2211 Adapter (8) with the 6V-5063 O-Ring Seal (9) and the 9U-6992 Adapter (14) with the 6V-3251 O-Ring Seal (11) .

If a 5/8 inch heater hose is used, install the 6V-7483 Adapter (15) with the 6V-5063 O-Ring Seal (9) and the 6D-3534 Hose Connector (16) .

There are different configurations that are used for the heater hose (6). Install the new heater hose. The new heater hose should be the same diameter as the hose that is being replaced.
Cut the hose to a length of 121.5 cm (3.9 ft) for the first configuration.
Cut the hose to a length of 144.5 cm (4.7 ft) for the second configuration.
