Right Side of Engine (1) Engine (2) Generator (3) Pump drive gearboxGenerator (2) is located on the right side of engine (1), between the engine and pump drive gearbox (3). The generator and pump drive are an integrated unit but can be serviced separately. The engine drives the generator and the pump drive directly.Generator (2) supplies electrical power to the screed heaters and the accessories panels. The generator is a switched-reluctance type. The switched-reluctance generator does not employ permanent magnets or a field winding on the rotor. The generator produces pulsed direct current (DC) power. This current is sent to the inverter, where the current is converted to constant DC power for the electrical loads on the machine.The generator is monitored and controlled by the generator ECM and the machine ECM.Internal components of the generator are splash-lubricated by oil. Lubrication oil is force-fed into the shaft of the generator rotor. This oil is sprayed through holes in the rotor onto the stator and other internal components. The lubrication oil is then collected in a sump at the base of the generator.

These tandem pumps share a single housing and are directly driven by the engine.Generator lube oil pump (4) is a gear-type pump. The oil level in the generator oil sump can be checked with this dipstick. Oil can be added through oil fill port (8) .Generator oil filter (10) cleans the generator lube oil before the oil is pumped into the generator. Oil-sample tap (6) on the inlet side of the filter allows service personnel to check pressure and to draw oil samples from the generator.The generator oil filter bypass switch (11) alerts the operator when a high differential pressure exists across filter (10). This switch closes when the differential pressure exceeds 345 37 kPa (50 5 psi). This component provides an input signal to the machine ECM.Generator oil pressure sensor (9) is located on the outlet side of generator oil filter (10). The generator oil pressure sensor measures the hydraulic pressure of the generator oil at the outlet side of the generator oil filter. This sensor provides an input signal to the machine ECM.
