777 ( 84A ) TrucksDescription of Change: Stronger studs are now used in the 9D2850 Brake Group on the above machines. The installation torque did not change for the new studs, but the torque is increased for the 2J3506 Nuts. These are the nuts which fasten the brake assembly to the spindle. Formerly, the nuts were tightened to a standard torque of 360 50 N m (270 37 lb ft). When used with the new studs, the nuts must be tightened to 475 50 N m (350 37 lb ft). The new studs and increased nut torque give a tighter connection between the brake group and the axle spindle.
Adaptable To: The new 7D3504 Stud is a direct replacement for the former 4D7246 Stud. The 9D2850 Wheel Group has 40 studs in it (20 per wheel).
