Check the installation of the bushing. If the bushings are installed incorrectly, some of the bushing material will be expelled into the bore area for the gear shaft once the bushing is staked into position. Use the plug gauge to verify correct installation of the bushings in the housing. The plug gauge should slide through the bushing freely.
