Left Screed Operator Station
Illustration 2 g01472082
Left side of main screed (1) Horn switch (2) Left tow point switch (3) Button plug (4) Left material height dial (5) Left extender height switch (6) Left screed width switch (7) Left feeder mode switch (8) Left extender slope switch (9) Left berm switchThe left operator station for the screed has a set of controls that are similar to the controls on the right operator station for the screed. The switches and the dial on the left operator station for the screed operate in the same manner as the switches and the dial on the right operator station for the screed.Operator Station for the Extenders
Illustration 3 g01472083
Outboard end of left extender (1) Tow point switch (2) Feeder mode switch (3) Screed width switchOperator stations are located on the outboard ends of the screed extenders. Both extender operator stations are equipped with tow point switch (1), feeder mode switch (2), and screed width switch (3). Crown Control
Illustration 4 g01472085
Center of main screed (1) Crown adjust screw (2) Crown scale (3) Crown adjust motorThe operator can raise or lower the center of the main screed with the crown control. Two screws (1) set the crown. One screw is at the rear of the screed and one screw is at the front of the screed. The two screws are connected together with a chain and sprockets. Motor (3) turns the rear screw. As the rear screw turns, the chain causes the front screw to turn the same amount. A switch on the right operator station controls the crown motor. Scale (2) above the crown motor indicates the approximate crown setting in percent. The scale indicates from two percent negative crown to twelve percent positive crown. Use the scale as a reference only. Check the mat for the actual crown.Thickness Control
Illustration 5 g01472086
Outboard ends of main screed (1) Right thickness control screw (2) Locking mechanism (3) ScaleThickness control screws (1) on the left and right sides of the main screed allow fine adjustment of the mat thickness. During operation, the thickness control screws can be used to make minor changes in the angle of attack. This provides fine control of the mat thickness. The thickness control screws have positive locking mechanism (2). This mechanism locks the screw in place during paving. Scale (3) indicates the relative change in the angle of attack as the thickness control screw turns. Vers-A-Mat screeds have two different thread configurations that are available for thickness control screws (1). Clockwise fine thread and counterclockwise fine thread are the two different types of thread configurations. When the thickness control screw has the clockwise thread configuration, clockwise rotation of the screw increases the angle of attack. As a result, the mat thickness increases. Counterclockwise rotation decreases the angle of attack and this rotation decreases mat thickness. The operator can use thickness control screws (1) to null the screed before the start of operation. In order to null the screed, lower the screed onto a flat surface that is the same thickness
