Start By:a. remove oil pump1. Use Tool (A) to turn the crankshaft in a clockwise direction (as seen from the front of the engine) until pistons are clear of the cooling tube to be removed. 2. Remove screw (1) that holds the piston cooling tube. Remove the piston cooling tube.Install Piston Cooling Tubes
1. Check the alignment of the piston cooling tubes with Tooling (A). See USE OF 5P-8709 TOOL GROUP for ALIGNMENT OF PISTON COOLING JETS, SMHS7267, for the correct alignment procedure.2. Put the cooling tube in position on the cylinder block and install the screw that holds the cooling tube to the block.3. Tighten the screw to a torque of 24 7 N m (18 5 lb ft). 4. With the piston at the bottom of the bore, check the clearance between the piston and the cooling tube with a piece of wire (1) 0.63 mm (.025 in) thick. If the clearance is less than 0.63 mm (.025 in) make a replacement of the tube. The cooling tubes must fit evenly against the cylinder block. If they do not, it will cause an oil loss in the engine oil system.End By:a. install oil pump
