Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the quick coupler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Quick Coupler - Remove and Install". Note: The Coupler cylinder must be fully retracted prior to disconnecting any hoses. The coupler cylinder can be removed with the quick coupler on the machine. The quick coupler has been removed in order to provide photographic clarity.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Remove two bolts (1) and the washers. Remove cover (2) .

Remove two hydraulic lines (3) and (4). Remove the nut, the washer and the bolt (5) .

Push pin (6) out of the coupler cylinder.

Remove coupler cylinder (7) from the quick coupler .

Install pin (8) into quick coupler (9) .

Install coupler cylinder (7) into quick coupler (9) .

Install bolt (5) into quick coupler (9). Bolt (5) secures coupler cylinder (7) to quick coupler (9). Install the washer and the nut.
Install two hydraulic lines (3) and (4) to coupler cylinder (9) .Note: Hydraulic lines (3) and (4) must be connected properly. Improperly connected hydraulic lines will cause a safety problem.

Install cover (2). Secure cover (2) with two bolts (1) and the washers.
Lubricate quick coupler (9) .End By: Install the quick coupler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Quick Coupler - Remove and Install".
