Information:

Rubber toric seals and all surfaces in contact with them must be clean and dry at assembly. Put a thin layer of oil on the surfaces that make contact on the metal seals just before installation. Put oil on all other seals before assembly.(1) Torque for 21 bolts ... 270 25 N m (200 20 lb.ft.)(2) Put 6V5765 Sealant on contacting surfaces of case and covers.(3) Preload on bearings ... 0.10 to 0.18 mm (.004 to .007 in.) tight. Use shims (5) for adjustment.(4) Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on surfaces of these splines and threads.(6) Torque for retainer ... 44 15 N m (33 11 lb.ft.)(7) Torque for bolts (seven) ... 270 25 N m (200 20 lb.ft.)(9) Adjust preload ... 0.02 to 0.10 mm (.001 to .004 in.) tight(10) Torque for bolt ... 1600 160 N m (1200 120 lb.ft.)(11) Torque for bolts (five) ... 135 15 N m (100 11 lb.ft.)(12) End play of bearings ... 0.00 to 0.08 mm (.000 to .003 in.) loose Use shims (13) for adjustment.(15) End play of bearings ... 0.00 to 0.08 mm (.000 to .003 in.) loose Use shims (14) for adjustment(16) Torque for bolts (five) ... 135 15 N m (100 11 lb.ft.) (17) With the machine on a level surface, fill case with SAE 50 oil to bottom edge of hole. Install sprocket on shaft with a force of 90 000 N (20,200 lbs.).Rolling Torque Check
Make five complete turns of the output shaft before each torque reading. Check the torque of the output shaft while turning it with the shaft axis in a vertical position.1. With covers and cage loose and pinion disengaged, write down the torque needed to turn the sprocket shaft.2. Check the gap under cage (8) in six places with a taper gauge. Maximum allowable variation is 0.3 mm (.012 in.).3. Use average reading to get the shims needed to get an additional 23 4 N m (17 3 lb.ft.) torque on sprocket shaft.4. Adjust the shims as necessary, install seal and torque cage bolts (7) to 270 25 N m (200 20 lb.ft.).5. Check gap under cover in four places with taper gauge. Maximum allowable variation 0.2 mm (.008 in.).6. Use average reading to get shims needed. Install seal and shims and torque cover bolts to 135 15 N m (100 11 lb.ft.). Torque on sprocket shaft should not change.7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for last cover.8. Engage pinion and torque disconnect to 44 15 N m (33 11 lb.ft.). Sprocket shaft torque should increase by 17 4 N m (13 3 lb.ft.). Install sprocket. Torque should increase an additional 6 2 N m (4 1.5 lb.ft.).
