START BY:a. remove fan and fan guardb. remove crankshaft pulley and vibration damper
If the front of the engine is to be raised more than 6 mm (.25 in.), several items must be disconnected or removed to prevent damage to the components of the machine. They are as follows:
a. disconnect the drive shaft for the pump drive. *b. remove the front guard for the main drive shaft. **c. loosen the hose clamps on the hose that connects the torque converter pump suction tube to the hydraulic tank. **d. loosen the hose clamps on the rubber elbow that connects the air inlet tubes to the air cleaners.e. loosen the hose clamps on the hoses that connect the engine water pump and the auxiliary water pump to the radiator.f. loosen the caps on the rear engine mounts.g. remove the exhaust piping that connects the turbochargers to the rear main frame.*See Vehicle Systems Disassembly & Assembly**See Power Train Disassembly & Assembly 1. Remove bolts (2) that fasten trunnion (1) to the engine front support. 2. Use a hoist and raise the front of the engine until the weight is removed from trunnion (1). The weight on the front of the engine is 3860 kg (8500 lb.). Put tooling (A) in position under the front drive housing as shown.3. Remove two bolts (3), and install two 1/2" - 13 NC guide bolts (4). Remove the remainder of bolts (3) from the trunnion. 4. Pull trunnion (1) away from the front drive housing and fasten a hoist. Remove trunnion (1) from the engine. The weight of the trunnion is 54 kg (120 lb.). 5. Remove bolts (5) and remove mount assembly (6) from support (7).6. Install trunnion (1) in the reverse order of removal.7. Tighten bolts (5) that fasten mount assembly (6) to the support to a torque of 200 20 N m (150 15 lb. ft.).8. Tighten bolts (3) that fasten trunnion (1) to the front drive housing to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb. ft.).9. Tighten bolts (2) that fasten trunnion (1) to the engine front support to 475 50 N m (350 37 lb. ft.).
