Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Drain the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Disconnect hose assemblies (1) .

Disconnect hose assembly (2). Remove bolts (6). Remove oil filter base (7) and gasket (3). Remove engine oil cooler (4) and gasket (5) .Installation Procedure

Install engine oil cooler (4) and gasket (5). Install oil filter base (7) and gasket (3). Install bolts (6). Connect hose assembly (2) .

Connect hose assemblies (1) .
Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".End By: Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
