Introduction
This instruction provides the necessary parts and procedure for the installation of a coolant loss sensing system for dealer custom warning systems. This coolant loss sensing system will detect a low coolant level in radiator top tanks.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.Tools Required

Sensor Operation
(1) + BAT. (2) GND. (3) Low Level Sensor. The 1070174 Coolant Loss Sensor is a solid state sensor for 12 or 24 Volt systems which electronically senses the presence or absence of coolant.* If sensing tip (A) is fully submerged in fluid, the alarm output of the sensor is an open circuit.* If the sensing tip is completely out of coolant, the alarm output of the sensor is pulled to within 2 VDC of ground after a 10 second time delay.* If the sensing tip is only partially submerged, the output of the sensor can be open or closed.Current requirements of the alarm circuit must not exceed 0.5 amps. The listed components meet this requirement.Installation
1. Locate the mounting position for the sensor on the tank. Generally, the sensor should be mounted high enough in the tank to warn the operator before damage can occur, but low enough in the tank to avoid false warnings due to machine tilt.2. Drain the coolant tank.3. Weld a 5C0731 Weld Boss at the desired mounting location. This will provide a 1/4-18" NPTF portfitting for the sensor.4. Install the sensor in the 1/4-18" NPTF port. DO NOT use teflon pipe tape or any pipe sealant. The sensor is already supplied with sealant on the threads. Additional sealant could affect operation of the sensor.5. Mount the appropriate alarm lamp receptacle (12V or 24V system) in a location to warn the operator in case of loss of coolant. Place the appropriate bulb in the receptacle. 6. Refer to Special Instruction SEHS9615 for assembly of the 4-pin connector. Construct the mating harness as shown.7. Connect Pin 1 of 1028809 4-pin plug to +BAT through a 10 amp fuse powered through the key switch using red 18 gauge wire.8. Connect Pin 2 of the 4-pin plug to -BAT using black 18 gauge wire.9. Connect Pin 3 of the 4-pin plug to the ground side of the alarm light using green 18 gauge wire.10. Connect the +B side of the alarm light to +BAT through the same 10 amp fuse used in Step 6 using red 18 gauge wire.11. Ground the coolant tank to -BAT.12. Connect the harness into the 1070174 Coolant Loss Sensor.13. Turn the key on without starting the engine. The coolant lamp and/or alarm should come on after about 10 seconds.14. If the warning functions correctly, fill coolant tank with coolant and turn key on again. If the warning does not come on after 10 seconds, system is installed and functioning correctly.
