Remove 282-6690 Cover (A) from 284-8577 Steering Control Support Gp (B). Refer to the Illustration above.

Remove 282-2035 Cushion (C).

Remove 282-2037 Cushion (D), and 282-6693 Cover (E).
Remove 268-9650 Strut.

Remove two 247-1913 Ball Studs (F), and 8T-4224 Hard Washers (G).

Remove 286-0602 Bushing (H).

Install two 342-6093 Ball Studs (1) along with two new 8T-4224 Hard Washers (3) to mount new gas strut. Torque the ball studs to 15 3 N m (11 2 lb ft).

Tilt the armrest to OPEN position to install the gas strut as shown in the Illustration above.

Install end (J) of 434-0870 Strut As (2) to ball stud as shown above.
Install 218-0728 Spring to ball end of gas spring.

Install the rod end (K) of the 434-0870 Strut As (2) on the other ball stud.
Install (4) 218-0728 Spring to ball end of gas spring.
Reinstall 286-0602 Bushing.
Reinstall the support group using the existing hardware.
