ARMATURE 5M4352 - Caterpillar

Excessively high or low oil level may have negative consequences on the integrity of the internal components of the Final Drive. Take care to set the oil level correctly using the following instructions.

Move the machine so that final drive oil level mark (3) is horizontal to the flat ground. The final drive drain plug (1) will be at the bottom of the final drive.
Remove final drive drain plug (1) and allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Clean drain plug (1) and replace the plug. Tighten the drain plug to a torque of 60 6 N m (44 4 lb ft).

Some components are removed for clarity
Remove inside drain plug (4) of the final drive assembly and allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Clean plug (4) and replace plug (4). Tighten plug (4) to a torque of 75 7 N m (55 5 lb ft)
Remove check plug (2). Add oil until the oil is level with the plug threads. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)".
Clean check plug (2) and install the plug . Tighten the check plug to a torque of 105 10 N m (77 7 lb ft).
Repeat this procedure for the other final drive.
