The starting Serial Numbers for machines with the SAE 10W oil diluted (made thinner) 25% with kerosene are:
The SAE 10W oil which is diluted 25% with kerosene also has a purple dye added for identification.
The new hose assemblies, that are not shown in the parts chart, have now been added to the SEBD2083 TECHNICAL PARTSGRAM. Add the part number 9D6063 Hose Assembly in the empty space opposite the former part number 9D6004. Add the part number 9D5892 Hose Assembly in the empty space opposite the former part number 9D6002 in both the upper and lower part of the chart. Remove the stem assemblies, sleeves, and high pressure hoses from the parts chart. See the TECHNICAL PARTSGRAM SEBD2083 for information to fabricate the 9D6063 and 9D5892 Hose Assemblies.
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------SUPPLEMENT: 01/29/79SERVICE MAGAZINE, NOVEMBER 20, 1978, PAGE 2.In the article "Improved Cold Weather Steering For Series "G" Motor Graders", the 9S67 part number, shown for the 61 1/2 inches of High Pressure Hose in the lower half of the chart is wrong. Change the 9S67 part number to read 9S671.--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Description of Change: There have been several changes to the steering system on the above motor graders to improve their steering ability in cold weather. The steering hydraulic lines and fittings have been increased in size from 3/8" (9.5 mm) I.D. to 1/2" (12.7 mm) I.D. and the hydraulic pressure in the steering system has been increased from 1,375 psi (9500 kPa) to 1,825 psi (12570 kPa) on the 120G, 130G, 140G and 12G Motor Graders. The 14G and 16G Motor Graders already have the larger I.D. hydraulic lines and higher hydraulic pressure. The hydraulic fluid installed at the factory in all Series "G" Motor Graders, except those built in Melbourne, is now SAE 10W oil diluted (made thinner) 25% with kerosene. With the above changes, the steering system on all Series "G" Motor Graders will operate at temperatures as low as -40°F (-40°C).
Use the recommendations that follow to be sure the correct viscosity of oil is used.
Never below +45°F (+7°C) ... Drain the hydraulic tank only and install SAE 30 oil.
Never below 0°F (-18°C) ... Drain the hydraulic tank only and install SAE 10W oil.
Never below -40°F (-40°C) ... Use the factory installed oil (SAE 10W oil diluted 25% with kerosene).
Below -40°F (-40°C) ... Drain the tank and the complete hydraulic system, and install Conoco DN600 Arctic Antiwear Hydraulic Oil or Emery Industries Frigid 60 Arctic Hydraulic Oil.
Adaptable To: The 1/2" (12.7 mm) I.D. hydraulic lines and fittings are adaptable to all earlier 120G, 130G, 140G, and 12G Motor Graders, if all the parts in the chart that follows are used together. The 3G8436 Steering Relief Valve Group is now used on all Series "G" Motor Graders. The new relief valve increases the oil pressure in the steering system. The new relief valve is adaptable to all earlier Series "G" Motor Graders if 1/2" (12.7 mm) I.D. hydraulic lines and fittings are used.
