You must read and understand the warnings and instructions contained in the Safety section of this manual before performing any operation or maintenance procedures.Hydraulic Tank
Change the Oil
Operate the machine long enough to warm the oil.The machine should be level. All attachments should be lowered to the ground with a slight down pressure. The parking brake should be engaged, and the engine stopped. 1. Remove the hydraulic system oil tank fill cap. 2. Remove the bolt on cover on the hydraulic tank located on the right side of the machine. Remove the drain plug, located in the bottom of the hydraulic tank.3. Install a 1 inch NPT pipe nipple, 100 mm (4 in) long, to open the internal drain valve and drain the oil.4. Remove the pipe nipple and install the drain plug.5. Change the hydraulic system filter. See Hydraulic Oil System in the Every 500 Service Hours or 3 Months section.6. Remove the fill screen. Clean and install fill screen.7. Fill the hydraulic system oil tank. See Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities.8. Inspect the fill cap gasket. Replace the gasket if damaged.9. Install the oil fill cap.10. Start and run the engine for a few minutes. 11. Maintain the oil level above the ADD COLD mark in the sight gauge (1). Add oil through the fill tube (2), if necessary. The oil must be free of bubbles. If bubbles are present in the oil, air is entering the hydraulic system. Inspect the suction line hoses and clamps.12. Stop the engine.13. If necessary, tighten any loose clamps and connections. Replace any damaged hoses.Differentials
Change the Oil
Wipe covers and surfaces around openings before checking or adding oil. 1. Remove the drain plugs for the front and rear differential and allow the oil to drain.2. Clean and install the drain plugs. 3. Remove the front and the rear differential dipstick/fill plugs.4. Add 0.5 L (.53 qt) of oil additive to each axle. See Axle Lubricant in the Lubricant Specifications of the Maintenance Section.5. Fill and maintain the oil between the ADD and FULL marks on the dipstick. See the Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities chart.6. Operate the machine a few minutes to allow the oil to flow thru the entire axles. Recheck the oil level. Remove the dipstick/fill plugs and check the oil level. Add oil if necessary. Install the dipstick in completely before checking the oil level. If the dipstick is not in completely, an incorrect oil level can occur.7. Clean and install the dipstick/fill plugs.Engine Valve Lash
Adjust
To prevent possible injury, do not use the starter motor to turn the flywheel.Hot engine components can cause burns. Allow additional time for the engine to cool before measuring valve clearance.
Measure the valve lash with the engine stopped. To obtain an accurate measurement, allow at least 20 minutes for the valves to cool to engine cylinder head and block temperature.
Adjust the valve clearance to within 0.08 mm (.003 in) of the valve clearance setting given in the chart. Refer to the Service
