Apply the parking brake. Stop the machine.
In order to hold the front frame and the rear frame rigid, install the steering frame lock pin.
Block the front drum securely.

(A) Jack stands.Note: The parking brake on the CS-431C is located on the rear axle. When you place the rear of the machine on jack stands the parking brake will no longer hold the machine.
Place the rear of the machine on jack stands so that the wheels are not in contact with the ground. Place one jack stand on each side of the machine at the rear of the machine under the frame. Use tooling (A) in order to support the machine.Note: The parking brake on the rear axle must be manually released before the following test can be performed.

In order to release the brakes, use the FT-1845 Pump Group .
Plug the main pressure hose (6) .
Turn the handle of the bypass valve (4) to the CLOSED position.
Observe the opening pressure of the relief valve (1) while you operate the pump handle (3) .
Possible brake piston seal damage could result without checking the relief valve. The opening pressure must be checked and adjusted before making a connection.
Adjust the opening pressure for the relief valve (2) to 1379 kPa (200 psi). Turn the handle of the bypass valve (4) to the OPEN position.
Remove the adapters from the end of the pressure hose (7). Install the 003-9514 Pipe Coupling and 8C-6867 Connector on the end of hose (7) .

The right side access panel
Remove the side panel on the right side of the machine in order to gain access to the brake and shift valve.

Disconnect the brake line (9) at the brake and shift valve (10) that runs to the rear axle. In order to prevent the loss of brake fluid, install the 179-4435 plug into the brake and shift valve.
Connect the brake line (9) to the pressure hose (7) for the hand pump.
Turn the handle for the bypass valve (4) to the CLOSED position.
Operate the pump handle in order to produce a pressure rise. The seal is seated when the pressure rises to the maximum value. The parking brake should be released.
