Remove all 183-5116 Fan Clutch Groups from dealer parts stock that have a serial number of 414 or lower. Fan clutch groups with serial numbers of 415 and higher are not suspect and do not need to be removed from dealer parts stock. See the following illustration.

Return all 183-5116 Fan Clutch Groups that have a serial number of 414 or lower that were removed from parts stock and a copy of the claim to:

REWORK PROCEDURE FOR D9R TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS
RECOMMENDED REPAIR PROCEDURE
D9R
Drain coolant from hood mounted engine coolant tank.
Disconnect water lines from hood mounted engine coolant tank.
Loosen the clamps securing the hose from the air cleaner housing to the precleaner.
Remove the vertical grab irons on the front of the cab to facilitate removal of the hood.
Remove 131-8039 plate assembly to gain access to the rear hood-mounting bolt.
Remove the 7X-0370 bolt ? rear hood mounting.
Disengage the two 9M-3835 rubber latches at the front hood supports.
Sling the hood from the lifting eyes and remove the hood. Use caution when removing the hood to prevent wiper arm and glass damage.
On machines equipped with air conditioning, remove the A/C belt from the A/C compressor.
Remove the four bolts from the A/C compressor support bracket and move the bracket & compressor rearward to provide clearance for removal of fan clutch.
On machines equipped with radiator mounted A/C condenser - remove the four condenser mounting nuts and brackets. Then move condenser aside to gain access to the cooling fan without opening refrigerant connections.
On machines equipped with radiator mounted hydraulic cooler, remove the two hydraulic hose connections and cap the lines. Remove the two bolts securing the steering filter bracket to the radiator guard. Move the filter & bracket assembly rearward to provide access. Remove the four nuts and washers on the cooler support brackets. Remove the LH hood support bracket. Remove the cooler to the left.
Remove drive belts from belt tensioner. Leave belts engaged in crank pulley.
Remove the mounting nuts from the RH lower fan wire guard. With the guard still on the mounting studs, position to clear fan drive housing and facilitate the removal of the fan clutch hose fittings.
