USERS OR DEALERS ASKED TO INSTALL FILMS ON FRONT SUSPENSION CYLINDERS 776 Tractors; 777 Trucks 7557, 7201, PI1021 U-44 A-29 AU-36 C-41 O-32 safety Problem Improper servicing of the front suspension cylinders on 776 Tractors or 777 Trucks can endanger the serviceman. The front suspension cylinders are pressurized with nitrogen gas to provide a safer, smooth ride. The cover on the cylinder is intended to prevent the serviceman from removing the cylinder head under pressure. However, if the bolts that secure the cover are removed, the nitrogen gas is released. If the truck is not blocked, it will lower and reduce the distance between the truck body and the tire or steering axle. The Service Manual gives explicit instructions on servicing the front suspension cylinder, specifically including blocking the truck. IF THE TRUCK IS NOT BLOCKED AND A SERVICEMAN IS IN A POSITION BETWEEN THE TIRE AND TRUCK BODY WHEN HE REMOVES THE SUSPENSION CYLINDER COVER, A SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH MAY RESULT. A warning film (decal) is now installed on the cylinders. The illustration shows both sides of the warning film.
