Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Remove the carrier bearing from the front drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Carrier Bearing (Drive Shaft) - Remove and Install".
Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the blade to the ground. Chock the wheels in order to keep the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.
Put alignment marks on all components for installation purposes.

Note: Take care not to damage the surface of the carrier bearing during the lowering of the front drive shaft.
Lower the end of the front drive shaft.

Use two people to carefully remove front drive shaft (1) and the yoke (2) as a unit. The weight of the unit is 25 kg (55 lb).

Remove bolts (3) and the straps. Remove yoke (2) from drive shaft (1) .Installation Procedure
When the front drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the front axle assembly yoke. The front drive shaft must be installed in phase with the center and rear drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint groups, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Connect yoke (2) to drive shaft (1). Install bolts (3) and the straps. Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).

Use two people to install front drive shaft (1) and the yoke (2) as a unit. The weight of the unit is 25 kg (55 lb). Slide the yoke onto the pinion shaft.

Attach a suitable lifting strap to the unsupported end of front drive shaft (1). Put front drive shaft (1) in position for the installation of the carrier bearing.End By:
Install the carrier bearing to the front drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Carrier Bearing (Drive Shaft) - Remove and Install".
Disconnect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
