1. Make sure that the wheel torque override switch is off. The maximum wheel torque green signal light should be turned off. 2. Move the wheel torque control lever all the way to minimum position. Shift the transmission to first gear. 3. Advance the bucket into the material to be loaded. When forward movement stops, lift the bucket slightly to transfer weight to the front tires. Keep the engine running at full rpm. 4. With the machine in first gear, engine at full speed, begin slowly moving the wheel torque control lever toward the maximum position (away from the operator). 5. While moving the wheel torque control lever toward maximum, watch for the front tires to begin a slight surging as if they may break traction. Stop advancing the wheel torque control lever when surging is observed. Run several cycles observing machine performance, and using the wheel torque override switch to cycle the V.C.T.C. from control lever setting to maximum torque setting. If no indication of tire slip is observed, and more wheel torque seems desirable, advance the lever fractionally observing the results. If necessary, repeat this procedure until the desirable performance is attained.
