A 370-8376 Capping Kit 1 Start By:
Remove the expansion tank. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Expansion Tank - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
If necessary, remove the aftercooler (Keel-Cooled) and bracket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler (Keel-Cooled) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
If necessary, remove the heat exchanger (Sea Water Cooled Engine) and bracket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Heat Exchanger - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove the fuel manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Manifold (Rail) (M.C.S. Regulated Engines) - Remove and Install" or Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Manifold (Rail) (None M.C.S Arrangement ) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Manifold - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove the air cleaner and bracket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove the crankcase breather. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Breather - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove the electronic unit injectors. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electronic Unit Injector - Remove" for the correct procedure.
Remove the glow plugs. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Glow Plugs - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Make temporary marks on all the cable straps that retain the engine wiring harness. Cut all the cable straps and position the engine wiring harness away from the cylinder head.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct draining procedure.

Loosen hose clamps (2) from hose assembly (3).
Disconnect hose assembly (3) from water temperature regulator (1).

Remove bolt (4) from tube assembly (6).
Use a suitable tool to hold connection (7) and disconnect tube assembly (6) from the connection.
Remove tube assembly (6) from the cylinder head and connection (7). Remove O-ring seal (5) (not shown) from tube assembly (6).
Use Tooling (A) in order to cap tube assembly (6). Use Tooling (A) in order to plug connection (7) and the cylinder head.

Disconnect harness assembly (8) from coolant temperature sensor (9).
Remove bolts (11). Remove bypass tube (10) from the cylinder head. Remove O-ring seal (12) and O-ring seal (13) from bypass tube (10).

Sequence for tightening the bolts for the cylinder head
Gradually loosen bolts (14) in the reverse numerical order to the tightening sequence. Refer to the Illustration 5. Note: Follow the correct sequence in order to help prevent distortion of the cylinder head.
Remove bolts (14) from cylinder head (15).
Attach a suitable lifting
